first off i'd like to say thanks in advance for any help you guys give me i've always been a big fan of footy manager games but for my sins i aint played one for a long, long time! So i've been playing this game for a few days now pretty intensely and to be honest i'm doing dreadful and i've no idea why! Most of the posts i see on here relate to the higher leasues. I'm starting out as MK Dons in the 2nd divison, they have a good squad and finances, i've changed all the back room staff got good training schedules, i honestly don't know what i'm doing wrong and its driving me a little crazy. My retention for the ball is pretty dire. I've gone with a 4-4-2 formation with the wingers and AM to run with the ball whilst the DM sits deep.. Full backs to run forward mmmixed and DC to stay back, even against non league teams i can hardly get the ball please help me!!

Yeah i really look into the players attributes and only assign them tasks at which they'd be competant at, which is why its so frustrating i spend time assessing the attributes of my players, the real problem for my team seems to be ball retention, whats the best way to improve this?

Ok thx for your Help red army. I know what to do with the tactics file to import it to the Database. But what is the MKDons.slf file and where does that go for me to import it??

yepp "my docs" and u know where all the maps of FM are.

there should be a map of "shortlists" if not create one, put the file init.

in the game go to ur shortlist, open the shortlist and wollah!

by the way i dont know how far u have come in the game, so i recommend u restart the game :P, because i found some really good players that u could loan and buy

and something that might help u, many of the players had at least 62% in position rating or whatever on the genie scout, which is really good for a league two heck even a league one side(and some shit championship teams)
and most of the teams around league two/one dont get many players with more than 60% in positioning rating(or whatever it was) :P

well ur mk dons game really does suck, i dont know if i am some kind of a lucky man with fm. but i had some amazing players that i could get.

you had a fairly good shortlist anyways, i looked at ur team and even played a match, i got a few tips i will start by saying that u should loan a few of these players(one is on free i think):

Marvin Angulo (Strong versatile right midfielder and fullback)

Michael Barnes(Good left midfield.)

Mark Jones (good attacking midfield, alrite potential"124"current=87)

James Brown( Versatile player as good as a striker as a right mid, i started a game with hartlepool and he is doing great, a bit of potential as well)

Rocky Lekaj( left right midfield as in ur shortlist)

alrite the next tip is u really could do with mark jones.

and when playing away from home, take away the arrows from ur left right midfield, avoid playing with ur playmaker away from home, and also play with counter attack maybe, with a bit defensive mentality.
