I took a list of the best players on fm08 to see what they were like etc but unfortunatley i couldn't find most of them. i put there names into the player search option but most of them weren't there. Has anyone else had the same problem or is there a different way of finding them?

You may have had the 'Search only for players who are shit enough to play for my club' option. (it's something like that) When you use the player search, look down the bottom left. If the button is ticked, untick it. Should work.

Yeah i thought as much so i unticked this and still cant find most of them. I'm only playing the english leagues and i'm Coventry so i dont know if that makes a difference. For example i searched for Pablo Piatti and couldnt find him so i went and found his team and he was there... Anyone have any other thoughts?

most of the good unknown players are found only in case you select large database when you start a new game. some people also make sure to load all players from certain countries as well. for example i always select to load all players from brazil, argentina, chile, colombia and norway... just a matter of preference though, but brazil + argentina seem essential to me

no i have never had these types of problems...
if u are doing a overall player search then it depends on your scouts knowledge.
but if u are making ur own search from the search box and even though u type their name correctly and you cant find them, then its something wrong.
or some might not be there because u didnt choose large databas and whatnot.
