- player control is not good, I can't have a proper attack
- damn, when I shoot it usually goes out
- bah, this is not football, it seems more like rugby to me
Well, there's a reason for all those excuses
And the most important reason of all is because it's much more realistic than Fifa. Fifa makes everything easy... you can shoot from midfield and you know what? It might even get in!! Almost all shots are on target... all passes are like magically precise.
I have played both and I follow them since their beginning and I can safely say that PES is the winner, hands down.

the control over the players you got know in fifa is much better.
pes 6>fifa 07
fifa 08>pes 08.
pes 08 has only improved on their graphics.
and its much more fun to play fifa 08 than pes 08.
i still play pes 6, but i hate pes 08.
its much easier to play pes 08.
fifa 08 is much harder, i still cant play on world class difficulty. hell, in fifa 07 i was playing legendary difficulty after a few days.

1. player control is great, you can control it more. its not 'easy' to do anymore to just run through everyone and such like in fifa 07(which sucked). proper attacks? make your own formation, it has helped me a lot. plus that you can change the 'tactics' during the game.
2. shooting is a thing you have to practice on, no doubt about that. on pes i score too much. in fifa 08 it takes to learn and to be able to score 'perfect goals'. its great to see that you cant always score 'goal of the season' goals. you have to really be a pro to score goals like that.
3. its football not rugby, its just you hallucinating
Secondly, I totally disagree and I stand behind my opinion whatever anyone says... and I always admit if I'm wrong, if you can prove it of course.
Fifa is about learning to do some particular moves and then you can always score. I won't talk about playing in hard or easy, I never play in easy mode in any game. If you have enough experience with PES, you can actually play totally custom... but this means you will have to learn all tricks AND harness the power of manual long passing. Fifa is boringly one-way game, you see same carbon goals and misses every time, nothing intriguing for me there. And please, don't tell me Fifa 08 is better than PES 08 because of the better throw in cut scenes... lol

1-PES still persists on Master league or one season play which really annoys me, Fifa08 gives two options of playing as one player improving throughout a season or to be a manager and its a much better system though they can be
2-Fifa has all licenses, and many more leagues...PES (I don't know if its the same for everyone)doesn't even have the german league that is besides not having to edit and fix teams names and uniforms like (man red!!)

If we are talking about game play then PES wins though again there is positives in both
