Hi,
I have one problem. I can't see difference in number of stars at first sight, because the stars are not so readable that should be, in my opinion.
In FM2007, there was possibility to replace original stars (describing training quality) with customized stars which were more readable. In graphics directory, you should put new directory, name it 'stars' and put pictures (1-star.jpg, 2-star.jpg, ...) And it worked, just like kits and team logos.
But in FM2008, it doesn't work. How can I solve this?

If you look on sortitoutsi there should be some downloadable ones. I can't give you much other advice as I've just always downloaded them.

thats a direct link to the ones i have.
usually there is a 'readme' file in the 'zip' file you download.
and the instructions should be on there.
1 thing though. you need a skin for the stars to work, i think

i have downloaded the stars you recommended but can't find a way to get them to work could you run me through the process and where to save...

alrite, first off, do you have a skin?
skins are located here:
'My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\skins'
if you have added a skin then go into one of those, my example:
'My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2008\skins\steklo\graphics\icons\Stars'
thats where the 'stars' should be placed. the ones you downloaded that is.
and it should work from there on.
