just kiding, it depends on your players, you should find a formation that uses all your best players in positions that suits them. For example if you have only one good striker you don't have to push it and play with two strikers, if you know what i mean.

to get more goals and better team play you have to adjust your tactics a bit more carefully. you have to change your tactic a bit for different oppositions.
other than that you have to find a playing style for your team. this usually takes 1 month. depends on how good 'watch' you have over your team.
if you watch the 2d match you can learn alot about your team. and in that case change your tactic according to that.
a good formation can be 4-4-2 diamond.
if your really seeking goals you can have your RM and LM to run up to AMC positions and have your team to play short and slow. and through the middle. and dont forget to have your width to normal or less.
if ur seeking a stable formation and at times with good team play and goals, then a normal 4-4-2 diamond formation does a good job.
but you have to have good personal instructions and choose players wisely. because you can concede alot with the 4-4-2 diamond formation.
AND your DM has a big role in the diamond formation.
